Kat Scratch Fever
On July
28th, I will begin mo-blogging at 6am for 24 hours
to raise money for the
Oregon Food
Bank. This year, I will be
going around Portland showing places to go and
things to do here. Ok, well, I might not be out of
the house yet at 6am, but you get the idea. I’m
pretty new here, and I absolutely love it, so I
wanted to do something local this time around.
If you’d
like to sponsor me, please go to
this page and fill out the
information. All sponsors will be featured in this
entry unless you request otherwise. If you pledge
$25 or more, you can give me a place to go. If you
pledge $50 or more, I will include a permanent link
to the site of your choice on my link page.
Everybody that pledges, no matter what amount, will
receive a personal thank you note from me and a
warm, fuzzy feeling on the inside.

Blogging Is Trendy
So, now that Otakon is out of
the way (details later), it's time to start plugging
my participation in the annual Blogathon next
weekend. I will be blogging, once again, for the
Association for International Cancer Research.
If anyone would like to sponsor me,
follow this link. You can
either pledge a lump sum upon completion of the
'thon, or an hourly rate (the longer I manage to
stay awake and keep blogging, the more money the
chosen charity gets).
And remember, neither I nor Blogaton itself handles
collection of the money. The sponder will receive an
email after the blogathon is over with a direct link
to the charity's donation page.
Or you could just watch me spiral into
sleep-deprived madness again. That's always fun. I
have a theme this year, though. My theme will be
reviews. Everything from movies, to books, to cds,
to tv, to anime, to food, to resteraunts, to
concerts, to conventions, to etc. etc. etc. With
possible occassional intermission posts.

Fembat Unhinged
This year I will be blogging
for a charity that is especially close to my heart,
but is frequently overlooked -
Gingerbread,
an organisation for lone parents. I was raised in a
one parent family, and I understand how difficult
raising a child in these circumstances can be. One
Parent Families & Gingerbread provide an important
service, ensuring the voices of lone parents do not
go unnoticed, and
their children are not disadvantaged and do not
suffer from poverty, isolation, or social exclusion.
If you would like to know a little more about the
charity please visit
their website.

Welcome To The Monkey House
I will be participating in
Blogathon
again on behalf of The Innocence Project this year,
and I hope you’ll
stop by and say hello
during the event. I also hope you will consider
sponsoring me
this year. I will match all pledges up to
the first $200.00. (You push it higher than
that, well, we’ll talk.)Hope
to see you on July 28. And whether you donate or
not–be aware. Corruption thrives on ignorance.

A La
Cuisine
On Saturday, July 28th, 2007,
I will be participating in
Blogathon
to raise funds for the
National Kidney Foundation
for the third year in a row.
If you're not familiar with the NKF, they provide
education and counseling for sufferers of chronic
kidney disease, transplant recipients, living
donors, and their families, as well as funding for
research to find a cure for kidney disease.
Long time friends know that I blog in honor of my
best friend, David, who was diagnosed with Alport
Syndrome in November, 2003. David's transplant is
imminent - he was just greenlighted for surgery, as
his bloodwork indicates that the numbers are "right"
(in other words, David is very sick), and is
scheduled for transplant on July 25th. He's luckier
than most - he has a related, living donor and will
be getting his transplant at
Stanford,
the center with the highest one year survival rates
in the nation. He's in good hands...but it doesn't
make the need for research to stomp out Alport
Syndrome any less important.

The Daily
Bitch
In case you
hadn't heard yet, my Blogathon charity is
United Cerebral Palsy.
My son is severely affected by CP, so I can tell you
from my own experience how wonderful UCP is. They
provide equipment such as wheelchairs and
communication boards, along with many other types of
assistive technology. They also help provide services
such as housing, therapy, assistive technology
training, early intervention programs, individual
and family support, social and recreation programs,
community living, state and local referrals,
employment assistance and advocacy. My family and my
son's school have reaped the benefits of the
UCP
commitment.

Hi there. I am
participating in the ‘thon again this year.
Second year of insanity for me. I am
blogging for the Peace River Refuge and Ranch.
My charity is homegrown right here in Florida.
It was important for me to be able to physically
SEE where my lack of sleep was benefiting this
year. I didn’t want my sponsors donations
heading to a place that would eat up the
contributions in administrative expenses ect.
The Refuge is
located in Central Florida and is home to
several rescued exotic critters. Spider Monkeys,
Lynx, Leopards, Tortoises, Capuchian Monkeys,
Lemurs, Florida Panthers, Cougars …well you get
the idea. They have been rescuing wildlife for
over 12 years. Most of their residents have been
rescued from private pet owners who thought that
it would be cool to own a tiger (or a leopard or
a monkey ). Most of the residents have also been
neglected or abused when they get to the Refuge.
Lisa and Kurt Stoner run the refuge and have an
amazing story of how they began their journey. I
am very proud to have met them this year and to
see the work that they have dedicated themselves
to. It truly has changed my life.
My goal for the
BlogAThon this year is to raise funds to help
them build a new 50 acre panther/cougar habitat.
I plan to donate AND head up there to actually
physically help them construct the facility.
